Defiance Concludes Season with 8-1 Loss to Hanover
HANOVER, Ind. – The Defiance College women's tennis team fell 8-1 this afternoon to Hanover College in Hanover, Indiana in their final fall match of the season.
In doubles action, the Yellow Jackets dropped all three flights. Duo Hannah Hesterman and Cayla Walker fell 8-5 at first doubles while tandem AJ Breneman and Sydney Huston were defeated 8-1 at No. 2 doubles. At third doubles, Mackenzie Combs and Courtney Alexander were routed 8-0.
Over in singles play, DC went 1-6. The lone win for Defiance came at first singles as Hesterman took down No. 1 Panther Meghan Farrell 6-2, 0-6, 10-4. Second singles went to Hanover as Breneman fell 6-0, 6-2 while Walker dropped her set at third singles 6-1, 6-0. Alexander fell 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 singles and both Combs and Huston were trumped 6-0, 6-0 at fifth and sixth singles respectively.
This concludes the Yellow Jackets' season, finishing with a 2-11, 1-5 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference record.
