Yellow Jackets Fall to the Pioneers, 9-0

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Defiance College women's tennis team traveled to Lexington, Ky. to take on Transylvania (Ky.) University (2-1, 2-1 HCAC) in an HCAC match-up and fell to the Pioneers by a final score of 9-0.

Despite the overall loss, Defiance (0-4, 0-3 HCAC) won a total of ten games for the day. Junior Haley Kuhlman (Oregon/Clay) led the Yellow Jackets at the third singles spot winning seven games, but dropping the match by an overall score of 6-2, 7-5.

Senior Bailey Marquez (Porterville, Calif. / Porterville) was right behind Kuhlman, earning two games in her match at the fourth singles spot, with an overall
score of 6-1, 6-1.

Kuhlman and Marquez paired up together at the second doubles spot and earned one game in an overall score of 8-1, making the combined score of ten games going in the Yellow Jacket's favor for the morning.

The Yellow Jackets will host Olivet (Mich.) College in a non-conference match-up, Monday, Sept. 22. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
