Defiance women’s tennis wraps up season at MSJ
CINCINATTI, Ohio – The Lady Jackets women’s tennis team fought hard in its final match of the season Saturday, October 12, but came up short in a 9-0 loss to the Mount St. Joseph Lions.

DC fell to a final record of 0-8 (0-8 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference) on the season, while the Lions improved to 2-8 (1-6 HCAC).
The best matchup of the afternoon came in the third singles contest between sophomore Nicole Tank (Lincoln Park, Mich./Roosevelt) and Mount's Felicia Shadwick.
Tank recorded her first victory in a set this season with a 6-2 win in set one. She was then shutout in the second set to send action into a tiebreaker. Unfortunately, Tank ran out of steam, losing 10-5 in the exciting match.
In other action, sophomores Savannah Marquez (Porterville, Calif./Porterville) notched four game victories in her second set and sophomore Haley Kuhlman (Oregon, Ohio / Clay) won a pair of games in the first set and three in the second.
During doubles action, Kuhlman and Marquez competed as the second pair and won two games. In the first doubles, senior Tasha Brown (Fowler, Ind./Benton Central) and Tank combined to take one game.
