Yellow Jackets fall to Earlham 8-1 in midweek contest

DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Defiance College women's tennis team dropped a midweek contest Wednesday evening to Earlham College, 8-1. Haley Khulman led the way for the Yellow Jackets, picking up a win in her singles match.
The Purple and Gold, who battled with injuries and a shortened roster, were unable to match Earlham in doubles, falling 2-0 with the third match being forfeited. Kuhlman and Savannah Marquez gave EC a run in the second doubles match, forcing the Quakers to extra games, falling 9-7.
In singles play, Haley Kuhlman picked up a win in the four's match, defeating Jordyn Grimes 6-4, 6-0. The win for Khulman is her first as a Yellow Jacket.
Nicole Tank picked up a few games in her singles match and had several close games in a tight match. Tank fell in the three's match 6-2, 6-1.
The loss places Defiance's record at 0-7 on the season. The Lady Yellow Jackets have their final match of the regular season on Saturday. Defiance will travel to Mount St. Joseph College on Oct. 12, with a scheduled start time of 11 a.m.
