Purple and Gold women’s tennis drops match at Transy
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Defiance College women’s tennis team came up empty in its trip down to Kentucky on Saturday, October 5. DC dropped to 0-6 (0-6 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference) with the 9-0 loss to the Pioneers of Transylvania who improved to 6-0 (5-0 HCAC).

Leading the Yellow Jackets on the day was Haley Kuhlman (Oregon, Ohio / Clay) in her fifth singles matchup. The sophomore won a pair of games in her first set, but fell 6-0 in the second. The two victories were the most Kuhlman has notched in one match this season.
Sophomore Nicole Tank (Lincoln Park, Mich. / Roosevelt) and freshman Kayla Miller (Wadsworth, Ohio / HS) were the other DC members to record a game victory in singles competition, while sophomores Savannah Marquez (Porterville, Calif. / HS) and Maria Weber (Defiance, Ohio / Ayersville) came away with one game victory in their second doubles match.
Defiance will take on the Earlham Quakers in their next match on Wednesday, October 9. Action is set to begin at 4 pm in Richmond, Ind.
