Wieland, Savage Receive Heartland Honors
GREENWOOD, Ind. – Two members of the Defiance College women’s tennis team were awarded Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference end of the season awards. Kirsten Wieland and Catie Savage were the Jacket honorees.

Junior number one singles player, Kirsten Wieland, was named Honorable Mention All-HCAC. This is the third-consecutive year Wieland has been awarded this honor. The junior has played every match at one singles and one doubles for the Purple and Gold since the beginning of her freshman season.
Junior Catie Savage, the Yellow Jackets number two singles and one doubles player, was placed on the HCAC All-Sportsmanship Team. This accolade is voted on by the conference coaches and is awarded to the athletes who best exemplify the attitude an athlete should have on and off the court.
The Yellow Jackets finished in eighth place in the final HCAC standings, picking up a win over HCAC rival Bluffton University for the second-straight season.
