Defiance Falls to Oilers in Non-Conference Action
DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Yellow Jacket women’s tennis squad hosted the University of Findlay Oilers on Friday evening. Defiance was unable to grab a match and was defeated by a score of 8-1.
DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Yellow Jacket women's tennis squad hosted the University of Findlay Oilers on Friday evening. Defiance was unable to grab a match and was defeated by a score of 8-1.
DC competed in five singles matches and two doubles positions, while having to forfeit a singles and doubles spot due to an injury. The Yellow Jackets were handily defeated at both one and two doubles but managed to put up a fight in singles action.
Defiance's number four singles player, freshman Bethany Brown, registered her first career victory as a Yellow Jacket in a third-set super-tiebreaker. Brown dropped the first set by a score of 3-6 before rallying back to win the second by a score of 7-5. In the super-tiebreaker the freshman won 10-6 to register the Jackets only win of the evening.
The Purple and Gold is back in action on Wednesday, September 12 to begin Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play. The Jackets will host Earlham, and the match is slated to begin at 4:00 p.m.
