Jackets Drop Season Opener Against Reigning OAC Champions

ADA, Ohio – The Defiance College women's tennis team traveled to Ada, Ohio to open up its season against the Polar Bears of Ohio Northern University on Thursday evening. The Yellow Jackets were defeated by a match score of 9-0.

The Purple and Gold was outmatched by the strong, experienced Ohio Northern squad. The Polar Bears claimed the Ohio Athletic Conference championship a season ago and returned all but one key performer from last season's team.

The Polar Bears' veteran team seized control of the matches early and cruised to straight set victories in each contest.

The loss places Defiance's record at 0-1 to begin the young season. The Lady Yellow Jackets have a quick turnaround and are back in action on Friday, September 7 when they travel to the University of Findlay to take on the Oilers. The match begins at 3:30 p.m.
