Kirsten Wieland was named to the All-HCAC Honorable Mention Team after playing in each of DC's No. 1 singles and doubles matches in her first year out of Bryan High School. Wieland got on a roll in the second half of the season, posting four singles wins and one doubles win in the final eight matches of the season on her way to becoming the Jackets' first all-conference performer since Emily Meyer in 2007.
Nicole Lovins was recognized with a selection to the HCAC All-Sportsmanship Team, after assuming a leadership role for the Yellow Jackets during her senior season. Lovins was a contributor for Defiance at the No. 3, 4 and 6 singles spots, while also playing in No. 1 and No. 2 doubles action, and was recognized by her teammates and head coach for displaying behavior consistent with the conference's sportsmanship initiative.
The Yellow Jackets will lose seniors Nicole Lovins and Katie Carunchia to graduation, but look towards the 2011 season with excitement as they return a talented young core of players.
