DAYTON, Ohio – The women's tennis team claimed two victories on Thursday, as Katie Carunchia and Kaitlyn Sandercock won their No. 5 and No. 6 singles matches respectively. The victories were the first on the young season for the Yellow Jackets' tennis team.
Carunchia won the No. 5 singles match against Sinclair's Jessic Purvis, 6-4, 6-0. Sandercock claimed her victory over Sinclair's Jennifer Kolb in the No. 6 singles match, 6-2, 7-6, 7-5. The Jackets were also extremely competitive in doubles matches as Katie Carunchia and Kellie Raypole narrowly lost in the No. 3 doubles match 9-7.
Although the match will go down in the loss column, the scores indicate significant improvement for the Jackets who had struggled in their first five matches of the season.
DC will return to action on Saturday, September 19, when they travel to Hanover, Ind., for an HCAC tri-match against conference foes Manchester and Hanover.
