DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Defiance Yellow Jackets fell to 0-5 as they lost 3-0 to the Bluffton Beavers in Monday's rivalry game at Winsper-Knobel Field.
The Yellow Jackets faced the Beavers (2-1-1) in a non-conference game for the first time since the 1999 season when DC was a member of the MIAA. The contest also resulted in Bluffton's fifth straight win in the all-time series.
The Turning Point
The Jackets were able to hold the Beavers off for the first 20 minutes of the game, but Katie Singleton was able to break through in the 23rd minute of the game off a shot just outside the box crossed in by Parker Penhorwood. After this goal, the Beavers continued applying pressure as they managed to score two more times. Brysan Brewer struck the back of the net in the 42nd minute and then Mya Vernon scored again in the 65th. The Beavers held firm after scoring, not letting the Jackets come back.
A Closer Look
- Madison Hert returned as the keeper for the Jackets, saving 10 shots in the game.
- Defiance was far more disciplined than Bluffton as they only committed three fouls to the Beavers 11.
- Reagan Camp led Defiance's efforts, attempting three of their four shots in the game.
