Women’s Soccer finishes season with 7-0 home loss to Mount St. Joseph

Defiance Women's Soccer was bested, 7-0, by Mount St. Joseph in HCAC action on Wednesday at Winsper-Knobel Field in Defiance. By finishing the season outside of the top six in the league standings, the Yellow Jackets do not qualify for the HCAC Tournament. Their season ends with a 3-14 record and went winless in league action.

Inside the Numbers:
- Kerigan Pollard scored twice and Hannah Keith led the charge with a game-high six shots for the Lions.
- Mount St. Joseph also used 25 players in the game.
- Six of the seven goals were scored during the first half. Four of the seven Lion scores were assisted goals. Alexa Simpson set up teammates for goals in back-to-back goals in the first half.
- McKenzie Schneeman was involved in two goals with one score and one assist.
- Sarah O'Shea stopped 14 shots for Defiance to close the year with a total of 94. O'Shea held the Lions off the board for the first 40 minutes of the second half before Madison Hart snuck one past here in the 86th minute.
- During a cold and windy afternoon, it turned out to be a cleanly-played game with just five total fouls and no cards were issued.
The Difference:
- The Lions commanded the ball for most of the match and outshot the Yellow Jackets, 36-0. Sixteen different players recorded at least one shot for Mount St. Joseph. The Lions also took all eight corner kicks in the contest.
- Mount St. Joseph pounded the ball through the pipes three times in the first 13 minutes. Kerigan Pollard was in the middle of the action with the first and third goal of the sequence sandwiched around a score by McKenzie Schneeman, her team-best sixth of the year.
- Paige Adams, Catherine Hatfield and Julie Herzog added scores to close the half for the Lions.
