Women's soccer shuts out Andrews
The Defiance women's soccer team defeated Andrews University 2-0 on Sunday evening, the team's first shut out since September 25th, 2019. Freshman Lexi Coward and junior Abbe Rank provided the Defiance goals.

- Prior to the contest Defiance celebrated Family and Faculty Day to acknowledge and honor the family members and Defiance College faculty/staff members who have made an impact on the team.
Inside the Numbers
- Sophomore Melissa Bixler led the Yellow Jackets with six shots in the contest including two on goal.
- Coward and junior Ally Enneking each tallied three shots.
- Sophomore Bethany Lechenet and freshman Ryan Lay split time in goal and each made a save during the combined shutout.
- Ceiry Flores and Angelina Nesmith each recorded shots for Andrews.
- Emily Hicks played the whole game in net for Andrews and made four saves
The Difference
- The Yellow Jackets outshot the Cardinals 16-2 in the contest.
- After a scoreless first half, Coward gave Defiance the lead with a goal less than two minutes in the second half.
- Rank extended the lead to 2-0 with a goal stemming from an Enneking corner kick in the 61st minute.
- The goal by Coward is the first of her career while Rank's is her second. Enneking's assist is the third of her career.
- The shutout is the team's first since September 25th, 2019 when they defeated Andrews 10-0.
- Defiance has now won both matches against Andrews this season. Lay has registered the win in both games.
