CINCINNATI, Ohio (Oct. 26, 2019) – On the road in a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference match on Saturday afternoon, the Defiance College women's soccer team suffered a 4-1 loss to the Mount St. Joseph College Lions at Schueler Field.

CINCINNATI, Ohio – On the road in a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference match on Saturday afternoon, the Defiance College women's soccer team suffered a 4-1 loss to the Mount St. Joseph University Lions at Schueler Field.
Mount St. Joseph opened the scoring in the 12th minute (11:07) and added a goal in the 40th minute (39:53) for a 2-0 halftime lead. The Lions scored again in the 64th minute (63:41) before Defiance trimmed its deficit to 3-1 when Kat Wicher (Toledo, OH/Whitmer) tallied a goal in the 83rd minute (82:32). In the next minute, MSJ concluded the scoring.
The Yellow Jackets committed just two fouls while Mount St. Joseph was guilty of 10. The Lions were offsides 14 times.
Besides the score from Wicher, DC also got a shot on goal from Jordan Furko (Swanton, Ohio/Swanton) in the sixth minute (5:48). Defensively for Defiance, goalkeeper Madi Bowman (Eaton, Ohio/Eaton) played all 90 minutes and was credited with 11 saves.
The Yellow Jackets slip to 4-13-1 overall on the year, including 0-7 in HCAC play. Defiance returns to action on Wednesday when hosting a conference game with the Earlham College Quakers. Start time is set for 3:30 p.m. at Winsper-Knobel Memorial Field.
