Women's Soccer Dealt Tough Loss at Rose Hulman

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Defiance College women's soccer team traveled to Rose-Hulman on Saturday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets lost by a score of 4-0 to the Fighting Engineers.
The Yellow Jacket backline created issues for the Rose-Hulman offense. The Yellow Jackets back four were able to earn twelve offside calls throughout the day. Despite the pesky Defiance defense, the Fightin' Engineers were able to break through early in the game, scoring three goals in the first half.
The Yellow Jackets came out with a similar defensive tactic in the second half. This time holding Rose-Hulman scoreless until the 88th minute when the home side tacked on the final goal of the day securing a 4-0 win.
Senior Madi Bowman (Eaton, Ohio/ Eaton) started in the net for the Purple and Gold tallying eight saves on eleven shots in the first 65 minutes. Junior, Rachel Lowell (Lakewood, Ohio. / Lakewood) took over in goal for Defiance for the last 24 minutes, recording three saves on four shots.
Offensively, seniors Jordan Furko (Swanton, Ohio. / Swanton) and Kat Wicher (Toledo, Ohio. / Whitmer) lead the Purple and Gold each with a shot on goal.
The loss brings the Defiance record to 4-9-1 on the season, and 0-3 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play. The Purple and Gold will be back in action on Wednesday, October 16th, as they travel to Anderson University for another HCAC matchup. The contest is slated for a 3:30 pm start.
