DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College women's soccer team fell to HCAC adversary Earlham College 4-0 on Wednesday afternoon at the Winsper-Knobel Memorial Field in Defiance, Ohio.
The score remained deadlock at 0-0 for most of the first half despite a combined eight shots from both teams. Earlham's Chloe Lamenzo opened the scoring in the 22nd-minute, giving the Quakers the 1-0 advantage. Yana Miller and Abbey Smith of EC chipped in two more goals before going into the half.
In the second period, the Quakers added a fourth and final goal by Jordan Blackburne, ending the contest 4-0.
DC finished the game with 16 shots, nine on goal. Sydney Hoiberg led Defiance with four shots on goal while Kassie Memmer and Whitney Webb both finished with two apiece. In net for the Yellow Jackets was Madi Bowman making six saves on 10 shots on goal.
The Yellow Jackets now fall to 1-10, 0-4 HCAC on the season. They pick back up on Saturday, October 14 as they travel to Terre Haute, Indiana for a 1:00 PM start against Rose-Hulman.
