Women's Soccer Tripped Up by Rival Bluffton

The Defiance (1-8 overall, 0-2 HCAC) bright spot came in the final minutes of the second half as sophomore Lauren Perry (Northwood/Lake) connected with senior Kassie Memmer (Bowling Green) at the top of the box for the Defiance goal.
The Yellow Jackets finished with a game-high 19 shots led by sophomore Whitney Webb (Troy) with a team-high seven shots. Sophomore Madi Bowman (Eaton) led Defiance in frame with a game-high eight saves through 90 minutes of work.
In the first half, the Yellow Jackets found themselves trailing early as the Beavers delivered the games first goal at the 12 minute mark following a Defiance miscue.
Defiance looked to provide the equalizer late in the first half as sophomore Kat Wicher (Toledo/Whitmer) delivered a blow that hit the cross bar. Defiance entered the intermission with 12 shots, five of which came in the final 15 minutes of play.
Just minutes into the second half, Bluffton (2-8 overall, 1-1 HCAC) would catch Defiance on its heels as they fired a shot from the right wing that beat the Yellow Jacket keeper. The Beavers continued to pressure the box providing another goal at the 48 minute mark en route to the 3-1 win.
Bluffton finished with a team total18 shots led by Skylar Liming with eight shots and two goals.
Defiance returns to Winsper-Knobel Field on Saturday, October 7 as the Yellow Jackets celebrate Homecoming welcoming Transylvania, Ky. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
