Three Women's Soccer Players Earn All-HCAC Honors
DEFIANCE, OHIO -- Senior Katie Tilman (Miami, Fla./LaSalle), junior Kasie Memmer (Bowling Green), and freshman Sarah Madaras (Kalamazoo, Mich./Parchment) have been selected to the 2016 All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference teams for their performances on the field this season. Memmer and Tilman were both selected honorable mention All-HCAC, while Madaras was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.
DEFIANCE, OHIO -- Senior Katie Tilman (Miami, Fla./LaSalle), junior Kasie Memmer (Bowling Green), and freshman Sarah Madaras (Kalamazoo, Mich./Parchment) have been selected to the 2016 All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference teams for their performances on the field this season. Tilman is a first time honoree as an honorable mention selection, starting in eight of the team's 15 games at the midfield position. Tilman was second on the team with three goals and also added an assist for seven total points. Tilman took 13 shots with six of them were on net. Her defensive presence also helped the Yellow Jackets to a pair of victories where DC gave up just one goal.
Memmer earned honorable mention accolades for the third straight season after leading the team in scoring with four goals and two assists, finishing with ten points. Memmer also led the team in shots (28) and shots on goal (19). Memmer's season was highlighted with a hat trick in Defiance's 8-1 home victory against Bluffton University on Oct. 5. Memmer moved into the DC top-ten all-time list in goals (12), assists (five), and points (29) with her performance through three seasons.
Madaras caps off her freshman campaign at DC as a member of the All-Sportsmanship Team. Madaras started in 14 games this season for the Yellow Jackets at the forward position. Madaras scored two goals to finish the season with four points. Madaras recorded seven total shots, five of them on frame, for a team-high .714 shot on goal percentage.
