COLUMBUS, Ohio – The DC Lady Jackets soccer team fell 2-0 at the hands of the Capital Crusaders on Friday, September 14. Defiance's record moves to 1-2-2, while Capital advances to 4-3 on the season.
It was a tough road matchup for the Jackets, as they were under duress all afternoon long from the Crusader attack. In the first period, DC was outshot 6-to-0, as well as surrendering four corner kicks without posting one of its own. However, the defensive effort from Defiance kept it a game, as the two squads were tied 0-0 at the half.
Unfortunately, Capital came out of the break with even more offensive firepower, as they laid out a barrage of 12 shots at freshman goalkeeper Claire Turner in the second period. DC held strong for two-thirds of the match, but the Crusaders notched their first score in the 66th minute on a shot over the goalie's head to make it 1-0.
With the Defiance offense struggling, the team could not register any shots to try and even up the match. Capital kept the pressure on DC the entire game, and another score twelve minutes later in the 78th minute, sealed the 2-0 victory for the home team.
The Lady Yellow Jackets will play tomorrow, September 15 when they travel to Muskingum, and try to even back up their record. The game is set to kickoff at 1 p.m.
