Women’s Soccer Rolls Over Thunder
ANGOLA, Ind. – The DC women’s soccer team improved to 3-2 with a decisive victory over Trine University on Wednesday, September 16.

ANGOLA, Ind. – The DC women's soccer team improved to 3-2 with a decisive victory over Trine University on Wednesday, September 16. The Yellow Jackets scored three first half goals on their way to a 4-1 victory.
Defiance got out to an early lead as Danielle Chadwick assisted Cherilyn Borkholder in the sixth minute to give DC a 1-0 lead. Chadwick got her second assist of the game later in the first half as she set up Lauren Ranalli to put the Jackets up 2-0. Borkholder found the net again on a corner kick in the 41st minute to give DC a three-goal advantage going into halftime.
Trine University's Rachelle Newberry scored on a corner kick just two minutes into the second stanza to cut DC's lead back to two. However, Alexandra Johnson recorded her first goal of the season off an assist from Lauren Ranalli to reclaim three-goal lead and secure the victory for Defiance.
Goalkeeper Kelly Coble recorded nine saves on the night, improving her record to 3-2 on the season. Borkholder's two goals in the game gives the Shipshewana, Ind. native a team-high five goals on the season.
The women's soccer team will host Thomas More on Saturday, September 19, at 5:00 p.m., on the Defiance High School varsity soccer field.
