Plas Garners Pair of All-Ohio Honors

CEDARVILLE, Ohio – Defiance College senior Sarah Plas was honored by the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association earlier this month, as she was named to the NCAA Division III All-Ohio Third Team while also earning Academic All-Ohio accolades.

Plas, a three-year captain, earned All-HCAC honors in 2008, the third-straight year that the senior defender garnered the award. The Van Wert, Ohio native helped Defiance record three shutouts in 2008, while also scoring the match-tying goal against Mount Union in the DC Classic.

Over the course of her career, Plas started 68 matches from her sweeper position, helping the Jacket defense record 14 shutouts in that time. "Sarah is the most dedicated player I have had the privilege to coach," said head coach Alden Lawrence. "She anchored the team and played a vital role in stabilizing our defense."

The All-Ohio selections are nominated and voted on by the members of the OCSA and are announced by the association's office.
