Paige Koomler devastated the DC defense, scoring the first two goals of the match and setting up teammate Marie Humpolick for the contest's final goal to help the Spartans run away with the victory. Defiance was unable to find the net for the fifth time in its last six matches, dropping its fifth consecutive HCAC contest.
DC, who was outshot 20-7 in the match, put five shots on goal. Lauren Ranalli led the Jackets with two shots on goal, while Melissa Alston and Stephanie Lieto each put one of their two shots on goal. Alexandra Johnson also had a shot on goal for Defiance. Colleen Cross recorded double-digit saves for the second straight match, tallying 11 on the night.
The Jackets will be back in action this Saturday, November 1, when they conclude their season with a HCAC match at Rose-Hulman. Kick-off is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
