The Jackets fall to 4-5-1 on the season with the loss, while ONU improves to 6-3-1.
Danielle Chadwick gave DC a 1-0 advantage in the 12th minute of the match, scoring her third goal of the season on feed from Kaitlin Monberg. The Polar Bears would score two goals late in the opening period to take over the lead, before scoring three of its five second half goals in the final five minutes of the contest to run away with the match.
The Jackets, who were outshot 50-7 in the match, were led by Chadwick and Lauren Ranalli with two shots apiece. Monberg's assist marks her third in the last two matches, as the senior is tied for the team lead with seven points. Colleen Cross gave up all seven goals, falling to 4-5 this season despite tallying a career-high 20 saves.
Defiance returns to action on Saturday, October 4, when they travel to Franklin College for a HCAC matchup at 1:00 p.m. DC will look to improve to 2-0 in the HCAC with a victory over the 1-8 Grizzlies.
