Wrestling places sixth at Mid-States Invite

Five Yellow Jackets placed at the Mid-States Invitational on Saturday as the Defiance wrestling team finished sixth out of eight teams in the final standings.

The Basics

• Location: ONU Sports Center - Ada, Ohio
• Wabash won the event with 193 points.
• Defiance placed sixth with 50.5 points.

Notable Performances

• Senior Alex Smith placed fourth in the 141-lb bracket after going 3-2 with a pin, a tech fall, and a win by decision.
• Senior Cortez Bradley finished fourth at 157-lbs after going 3-2 with a pair of pins and a decision.
• Junior Alejandro Castro won two matches and placed sixth at 157-lbs.
• Junior Keringten Martin placed fifth at 165-lbs thanks to a 9-3 victory over ONU's Noah Williamson in the fifth-place match.
• Senior Mason Morris went 3-2 to place fifth in the 197-lb bracket.
• Three Yellow Jackets, senior Rigo Villa, junior Seth Bowman, and sophomore Jonah Schlegel each won a match at 285.
