Beltran leads Defiance at NCAA DIII Central Regional 

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Defiance College wrestling program wrapped up the 2019-20 season at the 2020 NCAA DIII Central Regional Tournament on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets headed to Adrian College for the competition, finishing 15th of 18 as a team. Rosendo Beltran (Toledo/Central Catholic) was the high finisher for Defiance, taking home a 6th place finish in the 125-pound class. 

Beltran went 3-3 on the weekend, finishing in 6th place in the 125 weight class. The junior worked his way on to the podium from the consultation bracket, winning by way of a 7-1 decision win over his opponent from Otterbein and a 9-3 decision win in the third round of the consolation bracket. In the final match of the day, Beltran fell by a close 2-1 decision loss to his Alma opponent to land him on the 6th place spot on the podium. 

Seth Majewski (Brooklyn, Ohio / Brooklyn) wrestled at 133 for the Yellow Jackets picking up one win on the weekend. The freshman won his consolation round one match by a 15-0 technical fall victory over his opponent from John Carroll University.  

Alex Smith (Castalia/Sandusky St. Mary's) represented Defiance at 141. The junior picked up his one win of the weekend by a 9-0 major decision victory in his consolation round one match. 

In 149, Cortez Bradley (Garfield/Warrensville Heights) wrapped up the weekend with a 1-2 record. Bradley grabbed his win by a thrilling 16-14 decision victory in the consolation round one match.

Cameron Pollard (Weston, Ohio / Otsego), won his opening bout at 157 by 9-4 decision win over his opponent from Muskingum, to finish the weekend with a 1-2 record. 

Hunter McNutt (Oregon/Clay) picked up another win for the Yellow Jackets on the weekend, defeating his Olivet opponent by 17-6 major decision victory. 

Defiance finished the 2019-20 season, finishing in 15th place of 18 teams at the NCAA DIII Central Regional.
