Wrestling faces tough field at BW Invitational
BEREA, Ohio- The Defiance College wrestling team traveled to Baldwin Wallace University to compete in the BW Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets finished 9th of 11 in the competitive field.
BEREA, Ohio- The Defiance College wrestling team traveled to Baldwin Wallace University to compete in the BW Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets finished 9th of 11 in the competitive field.
Defiance was led by sophomore Cortez Bradley (Garfield, Ohio / Warrensville Heights), who won by fall over his opponent from Ohio Wesleyan in the first round. Bradley then fell into the consolation bracket where he won by tech fall over Harley Young from Ashland at the 149 bout.
Freshman 285-pounder, Wes Bok (Defiance, Ohio / Fairview), won his opening round match by way of a 7-6 decision over his competitor from Thiel.
At the 125 weight class, junior Rosendo Beltran (Toledo, Ohio / Central Catholic) won his opening round match by way of a pin over his opponent from West Liberty, making it to the quarterfinal.
Cresencio Soto (Toledo, Ohio / Central Catholic) won by fall over Anthony Romasco from Washington & Jefferson in the first consolation round.
After four straight weekends of competition, the Yellow Jackets will be back in action on Saturday, Dec. 7, as they compete in the Ohio Northern Invitational. Matches are slated to begin at 9:00 am.
