Beltran Leads Yellow Jackets at NCAA DIII Regional
CRAWFORDSVILLE, IND. - The Defiance College wrestling program wrapped up the 2018-19 season at the 2019 NCAA DIII Central Regional Tournament on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets headed to Wabash College for the competition, finishing 18 of 19 as a team. Rosendo Beltran (Toledo/Central Catholic) was the high finisher for DC, taking home an 8th place finish in the 125 pound class.

Beltran won his first bout of the day before falling in round two, moving the sophomore to the consolation bracket. The Toledo native picked up two more wins, bringing his weekend record to 2-3.
Alex Smith (Castalia/Sandusky St. Mary's) represented DC in 141. The sophomore picked up his one win of the weekend by fall just 1:20 mins into his consolation round one match.
In 149, Cortez Bradley (Garfield/Warrensville Heights) wrapped up the weekend with a 1-2 record. The freshman grabbed his win a thrilling 9-6 decision.
Hunter Mcnutt (Oregon/Clay) picked up the only other win for DC on the weekend, defeating his Manchester opponent by fall in 2:13.
In the first season of Defiance Wrestling since the 1990's, the Yellow Jackets finish with a 2-5 dual record and a invitational high-finish of 5th at the Mid States Invitational on Feb. 9th.
