Women’s golf tunes up for conference tournament at Grizzly Spring Invitational
FRANKLIN, Ind. – Defiance College women's golf competed in the two-day Grizzly Spring Invitational at The Legends Golf Club with eight other HCAC programs represented in the field.
Playing one golfer down, the Yellow Jackets entered three players as individuals. Winter Boroff led the program and earned her sixth top-10 finish of the 2023-24 season. With rounds of 82 and 85, Boroff's two-day total of 167 earned a 10th-place tie. Isabelle Vance also clubbed an 85 on Sunday after her scorecard read 93 on Saturday. Vance's 178 placed tied for 27th. Emily Momany had a career-best round on Saturday when the freshman finished with a 95. After a 107 on Sunday, Momany's 202 equaled her best 36-hole total as well for a 48th-place finish.
Rose-Hulman won the team championship by turning in a 641 effort over the two days, which was 32 shots clear of second-place Mount St. Joseph. Precious Saelee earned medalist honors with a sterling round of 74 on Sunday after entering the day in a first-place tie. Saelee ended the tournament with a 154 and won the individual title by three strokes.
The Yellow Jackets have one tournament left on their schedule with the HCAC Championships. The women's golf team will have nearly two weeks to prepare for the three-day finale which begins on Friday, May 10. Hosted by Hanover, the tournament will be held at Hidden Creek Golf Club in Sellersburg, Ind.
