Jackets post fifth-place finish at Heidelberg Snowball’s Chance Invitational
TIFFIN, Ohio – The Defiance College women's golf team continues to shave strokes through the early stages of the spring season after placing fifth at Sunday's Snowball's Chance Invitational hosted by Heidelberg at Mohawk Country Club.
After turning in team rounds of 405 and 401 at the Music City Shootout two weeks ago, the Jackets compiled the group's first sub-400 round of the spring with a 399. Cassi Van Dyke (Maryville, Ohio/Maryville) led the way for DC with a card of 90, which was good for 13th place individually in the tournament.
Isabelle Vance (Continental, Ohio/Miller City) broke the top-20 with a round of 95, followed closely by Winter Boroff's (Middle Point, Ohio/Lincolnview) 97, which was tied for 21st. Freshman Emily Momany (Toledo, Ohio/Toledo Christian) rouned out DC's field with a 33rd-place finish with a round of 117.
Ohio Northern, Otterbein, Alma, Heidelberg, Baldwin Wallace and Olivet also competed in the event. The Polar Bears from ONU swept the team and individual titles by shooting 340 as a unit, just one shot better than Otterbein. ONU senior Grace Honingford claimed medalist honors by leading the field with a round of 80 and was victorious by three shots over Otterbein's Emma McGreal.
The Yellow Jackets have another break between competition and return to the links on April 7 at the Hiram Terrier Invitational, which will be hosted at Tanglewood Golf Course in Chagrin Falls, Ohio.
