Women’s golf closes fall slate at John Carroll Fall Invite
WILLOUGHBY, Ohio – Defiance College women's golf endured wet and chilly conditions to finish off a strong fall campaign at Manakiki Golf Course for the John Carroll Fall Invite on Saturday and Sunday.
Through the rain on Saturday, the Yellow Jackets combined to fire a 384 first round with rounds of 89 by Winter Boroff and Isabelle Vance. On day two, Cassi Van Dyke led the pack with a round of 80, her fifth round of 81 or lower this fall, as the squad shaved 18 strokes off the previous day to close the competition with a 366.
As the scorecards totaled 750 for the two days in Willoughby, Defiance placed eighth among 12 programs at the tournament. Wooster claimed the team championship with a 656 by a tiebreaker over Mount Union. The Purple Raiders took home the individual title as Jocelyn Troyer shot 157 over the weekend.
Three of DC's golfers shot under 175 for the weekend led by Van Dyke with a team-best 171. Borrof totaled 173 for the weekend after an 84 on Sunday with Vance one stroke behind with a weekend of 174 finishing with an 85. Emily Momany combined rounds of 115 and 117 for a 232 tournament.
The golf program resumes competition in the spring culminating in the HCAC Championships on May 10-12 hosted by Hanover.
