Women's Golf Concludes Season at HCAC Championship
BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Defiance College women's golf team made the short journey to the Bluffton Golf Club Saturday and Sunday as the 2019 season came to a close with the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship.
BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Defiance College women's golf team made the short journey to the Bluffton Golf Club Saturday and Sunday as the 2019 season came to a close with the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship.
Shelby Mercer (Canton / Glenoak) led the Yellow Jackets for the second week in a row. The sophomore landed 31st in the field of fellow HCAC golfers. Mercer shot a 99 in round one and followed up with a 93 in round two of the action. The six stroke improvement saw Mercer move up the leaderboard after finishing 33rd on day one.
Maricella Najar (Adrian, Mich. / Madison) followed Mercer at the championship with a 222 overall score. The freshman tallied a 116 on day one before dropping ten strokes for a 106 in round two. The Adrian, Mich. native's efforts landed her 44th in the field.
