Women's Golf Heads to Michigan for Season Opening Action

MARSHALL, MICH. - The Defiance College women's golf team began the 2019 season with a trip to the Olivet College Invitational hosted at The Medalist Golf Club on Saturday and Sunday. 

Three Yellow Jackets made the journey north for the season-opening competition. Shelby Mercer (Canton / Glenoak) led the way for the Purple and Gold. The sophomore posted a 98 through round one on Saturday before scoring a 99 during round two. 

Maricella Najar (Adrian, Mich. / Madison) made her debut for the DC women's golf team by scoring a 103 first round and a 109 second. The freshman landed 32nd with her performance. 

Julia Yeager (Defiance / Defiance) also made her Defiance College debut. The freshman shot a 121 in the first round before making an 11 point improvement to a 110 second round score. 

Defiance will return to action Saturday, September 7 as they host the Defiance Fall Invitational.
