Sabsook Claims HCAC Honors to Lead the Yellow Jackets

RICHMOND, IND. - The Defiance College women's golf team wrapped up their fall season this past weekend with the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Earlham College. 

The Purple and Gold finished eighth of nine teams with a two day total of 833 (413-420) strokes. 

Sophomore Emily Sabsook (Charlevoix, Mich.) led the Yellow Jackets on the weekend earning All-HCAC Sportsmanship honors. She finished tied for 31st with 193 (95-98) strokes.

Freshman Shelby Mercer (Canton/Glenoak) finished 18th overall shooting a 176 (90-86), while freshman Heather Jogerst (mcClure/Otsego) finished 43rd with 234 (120-114) strokes.

Freshman Morgan Beaverson (Sylvania/Southview) tallied 235 (113-122) strokes for a 44th place finish, while freshman Kate Osborne (Conneaut) rounded out the scoring for DC with a one day total of 115 strokes.
