Women's Golf Takes Part in Labor Day Classic

MARSHALL, MICH. - The Defiance College women's golf team competed at the Labor Day Classic this past weekend hosted by Olivet College and The Medalist Golf Club.

The Yellow Jackets finished eighth overall in the eight team field with a combined two day score of 847 (430-417).

Freshman Shelby Mercer (Canton / Glenoak) paced the way for DC as she finished 28th overall with 191 (95-96) strokes. 

Freshman Carrigan Browning (Troy) claimed a 38th place finish for the Purple and Gold with 207 (111-96) strokes, while sophomore Emily Sabsook (Charlevoix, Mich.) finished tied for 39th followed by freshman Morgan Beaverson (Sylvania/Sylvania Southview) in 44th place.

Freshman Kate Osborne (Conneaut) rounded out the scoring for Defiance with a 48th place finish.

The Yellow Jackets return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 4 as they host the Speiss Tournament at Eagle Rock Golf Club.
