Women's Golf Competes at the Trine Kickoff Classic

ANGOLA, IND. - The Defiance College women's golf team opened the 2018 season at the Trine Kickoff Classic on Thursday afternoon hosted at Zoller Golf Course.

The Purple and Gold finished sixth of seven teams with a combined team score of 416 strokes. Grace College won the Classic, while the host Trine claimed second.

Defiance was led on the day by freshman Shelby Mercer (Canton/Glenoak) who finished tied for 21st with 98 strokes. Sophomore Emily Sabsook (Charlevoix, Mich.) finished tied for 25th with 99 strokes, while freshman Carrigan Browning (Troy) finished tied for 28th.

Freshman Morgan Beaverson (Sylvania/Southview) registered a 36th place finish for the Yellow Jackets, followed by freshman Kate Osborne (Conneaut) in 37th and freshman Heather Jogerst (McClure/Otsego) in 43rd place. 

Defiance returns to action Saturday, Sept. 1 as they travel to Olivet College.
