DC Wraps Up Play at Heidelberg Invitational
TIFFIN, OHIO -- The Defiance College women's golf team placed in 13th place out of 13 teams after 36 holes of golf at the Heidelberg Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
TIFFIN, OHIO -- The Defiance College women's golf team placed in 13th place out of 13 teams after 36 holes of golf at the Heidelberg Invitational at Mohawk Country Club on Saturday and Sunday.
The Yellow Jackets were led by senior Kristian Aslanian (Trenton, Mich.), who shot a two-day total of 174. Aslanian shot an 89 on Saturday and followed that up with an 85 on Saturday, which is good enough for a 15th-place tie in the field of 78 golfers. Freshman Brittany Rhinehart (Mannington, W.Va./North Marion) followed Aslanian in 23rd-position after shooting two rounds of 89.
Freshman Emily Sabsook (Charlevoix, Mich.) shot an even 200 for her 36-hole total to place 62nd while Cassidy Yant (Churubusco, Ind.) rounded out the team with a two-day score of 261.
Defiance finished with 813 total strokes as a team for the 36-hole tournament, shooting a 408 on Saturday and following that up with a 405 on Sunday. The tournament was won by Saint Mary's (Mich.) College, who shot a 661 team total, followed by Grace (Mich.) College's 683 and Ohio Northern's 684. ONU's Lydia Cramner shot a 157, 11-over par, score to win individual medalist honors.
The Lady Jackets will return to action next weekend, as they travel to Nicholasville, Ky. for the HCAC Preview to be hosted by Transylvania University. The two-day tournament will take place on Saturday, Sept. 23 and Sunday, Sept. 24 at Keene Run Golf Course.
