Defiance Shoots Season-Best at Home Invitational
DEFIANCE, OHIO -- The Defiance College women's golfers posted their lowest score of the season, shooting a 392 as they finished in the seventh position out of nine teams at the Jon P. Spiess Memorial Invitational at Eagle Rock Golf Club on Tuesday.
DEFIANCE, OHIO -- The Defiance College women's golfers posted their lowest score of the season, shooting a 392 as they finished in the seventh position out of nine teams at the Jon P. Spiess Memorial Invitational at Eagle Rock Golf Club on Tuesday.
The Yellow Jackets were led by senior Kristin Aslanian (Trenton, Mich.), who shot an 83 on the day to finish in a tie for seventh place in the overall standings. Just three strokes behind Aslanian was freshman Brittany Rinehart (Mannington, W.Va./North Marion), who shot a season-best 86 on the day, good enough for 10th place.
Freshman Emily Sabsook (Charlevoix, Mich.) finished her round by shooting a 96 and finishing in 28th, while freshman Cassidy Yant (Churubusco, Ind.) shot a 127 to finish the day in 54th place.
The tournament was won by Tiffin University with a team score off 330, followed by Siena Heights and the University of Northwestern Ohio. Trine (Ind.), Clearly (Mich.), and Lourdes finished fourth, fifth, and sixth, while Defiance followed in seventh. The tournament medalist was Lauren Cojel from Siena Heights, who shot a 78.
Defiance will now have an 11-day layoff before returning to the links to take part in the Heidelberg University Fall Invitational at Mohawk Country Club in Tiffin on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 16 and 17.
