Women's Golf Finishes Sixth at Olivet
MARSHALL, MICH. -- The Defiance College women's golf team wrapped up the Labor Day Tee-Off Classic hosted by Olivet College with a sixth place finish this weekend at The Medalist Golf Club.
MARSHALL, MICH. -- The Defiance College women's golf team wrapped up the Labor Day Tee-Off Classic hosted by Olivet College with a sixth place finish this weekend at The Medalist Golf Club.
DC was led by senior Kristin Aslanian (Trenton, Mich.), who rebounded after a tough day one of shooting a 97 and followed it up with an 81 to finish the weekend with a 36-hole total of 178 strokes, good enough for the 18th position.
Freshman Brittany Rhinehart (Mannington, W.Va./North Marion) followed Aslanian with a two-day score of 193, while Emily Sabsook (Charlevoix, Mich.) wrapped up the tournament with a 203. Cassidy Yant (Churubusco, Ind.) improved her score from last weekend by 30 strokes on Saturday, and dropped another 12 on Sunday, for a two-day total of 258 strokes.
St. Mary's (Mich.) finished the weekend victorious, shooting a two-day total of 650 strokes. Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference rivals Rose-Hulman (Ind.) and Hanover (Ind.) finished second and third, while Olivet finished fourth and Franklin (Ind.) in fifth. DC placed in the sixth position after shooting an 832.
The Yellow Jackets will play their first of two home tournaments on Tuesday, Sept. 5 as they tackle Eagle Rock Golf Course for the Jon P. Spiess Invitational.
