Jackets Finish Seventh at Spiess Invitational
DEFIANCE, OHIO -- Junior Kristin Aslanian (Trenton, Mich./Trenton) shot a single-round of 86 strokes to lead the Defiance College women's golf team to a seventh-place finish at the annual Jon P. Spiess Invitational at Eagle Rock Golf Club.
DEFIANCE, OHIO -- Junior Kristin Aslanian (Trenton, Mich./Trenton) shot a single-round of 86 strokes to lead the Defiance College women's golf team to a seventh-place finish at the annual Jon P. Spiess Invitational at Eagle Rock Golf Club.
Aslanian carded a 41 on the front nine and followed it with a 45 on the back to finish with an overall score of 86 strokes and place 17th amongst the field individually. Sophomore Allison Barron (Ypsilanti, Mich./Heritage) was second on the team with an 18-hole total of 89 strokes (47+42=89). Freshman Megan McGinnis (Bloomville/Buckeye Central) shot a 105 and junior Mallory Galloway (Marion/Ridgedale) rounded out the DC competitors with a tournament-total 115 strokes.
Siena Heights (Mich.) University won the overall event with a team score of 319 strokes, tying the all-time tournament score record for play at Eagle Rock. The University of Northwestern Ohio was second at 321 strokes and Tiffin University was third at 329 strokes.
The Yellow Jackets will compete again on Friday-Saturday, Sept. 9-10 at the Olivet (Mich.) College Kyle Campbell Invitational in Olivet, Mich. The first round on Friday is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
