A strong performance from the Defiance bench started early as Josi Wolf (LaRue/Elgin Local) scored the Yellow Jackets' first points of the contest. The freshman rounded out the first quarter performance with six of her eight points in the opening period of action.
With an early deficit, DC began the second quarter with a quick defensive rebound from Danielle Carruthers (New London/New London), which transitioned to a Taylor Day (West Mansfield/North Union) layup. The Oilers offense proved strong as they rounded out the first half with a 46-19 advantage.
The third quarter saw Defiance's points come exclusively from Head Coach Allan King's Bench. Kalyn Pickens (Fort Wayne, Ind./R. Nelson Snider) led the Purple and Gold in the third period of action as she shot perfect from the floor and the charity stripe.
