Kelsey Tietje Named CoSIDA Academic All-District
DEFIANCE, OHIO -- Defiance College women's basketball senior forward Kelsey Tietje (Deshler/Patrick Henry) has been selected first-team CoSIDA Academic All-District VII for her efforts in the classroom.

To be eligible for the All-District Team, nominees must have a minimum of a 3.30 grade point average and have completed at least one full academic year at their respective institutions. Those being selected to the first-team, will be eligible for the Academic All-American ballot which be voted upon later this month.
Tietje was one of five players at the Division III level from the states of Ohio, Illinois and Indiana to be named to the All-District VII team. She currently holds a 3.77 GPA as a business administration major. On the court, Tietje leads the team and the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference in several statistical categories, including: points (446), points per game (20.3), rebounds (313), rebounds per game (14.2), field goals made (174), field goal percentage (57.4), and blocked shots (52).
She also ranks nationally in points per game (24th), rebounds (3rd), rebounds per game (4th), blocks (T-29th) and double-doubles (3rd).
Tietje has recorded a double-double in all but four games this season (18), and has topped 20 points in 14 games, including a season-high 32 points. She has recorded 10 or more rebounds in 18 games with a season best 23 boards. Tietje also leads the team in free-throws made (97) and attempts (156).
For her career, Tietje has become the program's all-time leader in three statistical categories that includes being the all-time leading scorer (1,846), the all-time leading rebounder (1,211) and all-time leader in blocks (203) during the current season. She is also the program's all-time leader in free-throws made (539). In addition, she currently ranks second all-time in field goals made (651).
Tietje and the rest of the Yellow Jackets will travel to Lexington, Ky. for a matchup against Transylvania (Ky.) University on Saturday, Feb. 11 in a HCAC doubleheader with the Defiance men's team. The women will tip-off against the Pioneers at 1 p.m., followed by the men at 3 p.m.
