Defiance Women's Hoops Picked Sixth in HCAC Poll
GREENWOOD, IND. -- The Defiance College women's basketball team was picked to finish sixth in the 2016-17 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches Poll.

The Yellow Jackets received 52 points to place sixth overall. Rose-Hulman (Ind.) Institute of Technology was tabbed as the preseason favorite to capture the HCAC title with 100 points and all 10 first-place votes. Bluffton University was second with 85 points and Tranylvania (Ky.) University rounded out the top three with 80 points.
DC also had three players named to the "Players to Watch" list in seniors Kelsey Tietje (Deshler/Patrick Henry), Erica Smay (Defiance/Tinora) and junior Whitney Schalk (Bellevue).
The Yellow Jackets will begin the 2016-17 season on Friday, Nov. 18 against Penn-State (Pa.) Behrend in the first game of the PSU-Behrend Tournament in Erie, Pa. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
