Comden Named HCAC Player of the Week For Second Time

GREENWOOD, Ind. – DC's Kim Comden was named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season due to her stellar play against Manchester and Mount St. Joseph. [HCAC Release]

Comden recorded an average of 23 points, eight rebounds, two blocks and a steal over the two-game stretch. The center scored a game-high 22 points against Manchester, while adding six rebounds and two blocks on Wednesday evening.

The Defiance native followed up the performance with an even better game on the road against the Lions. Comden led the Purple and Gold with a game-high 24 points. The Ayersville High product added 10 rebounds, two blocks and two steals to help the Yellow Jackets grab a crucial 74-72 win over Mount St. Joseph.

The back-to-back performances of 20 or more points mark a career first for the center. The double-double on Saturday was Comden's sixth of the season and tenth of her career.

The senior joins elite company, as only two other players have received the honor multiple times this season. Comden is the first member of the DC women's basketball program to receive the accolade twice in the same season since Mandi White accomplished the feat in the 2009-2010 campaign.

Comden and the Yellow Jackets' next game is on the road at Earlham on Wednesday, February 6 at 7:30 p.m. The team then returns for its regular season home finale, as Defiance hosts Rose-Hulman on Saturday, February 9 at 1:00 p.m.
