FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Defiance College Yellow Jackets visited the Warrior Park Softball Field for a Friday-afternoon clash with Indiana Tech. Despite a nail-biting game two, the purple and hold fell to the home team in each contest of the doubleheader.
Game 1: Defiance 0, Indiana Tech 8 (5 innings)
In the opening game, Indiana Tech began the scoring at the bottom of the second inning as a runner on third raced for home on a ground out to Defiance's Ali Mowen at shortstop. Two-consecutive infield errors from the Yellow Jackets allowed for a trio of Warrior runs, which gave them a 4-0 advantage. Indiana Tech retained momentum in the third as DC pitcher Devyn Hamilton was replaced by Emma Rodgers; the Warriors secured a two hit, two run inning.
Defiance found itself in a battle with Indiana Tech pitcher Savannah Bravo, who secured her first win of the season. Anna Emswiler's single in the third inning was the Jackets' sole of the game.
Game 2: Defiance 2, Indiana Tech 3
In a closely contested second game of the WHAC doubleheader, Defiance College was barely edged out by Indiana Tech, who managed to escape the game on top.
Similar to the first contest, the Warriors put the first run on the board in the first inning. Indiana Tech continued with one each in both the second and fourth innings and held the Yellow Jackets scoreless. However, at the top of the fifth with both Anika Craft and Morgan Scott on base, Kaylee Heath doubled to right center to bring both runners home. A final strikeout ended the inning's rally for Defiance. At the top of the seventh, the Jackets left two on base to come up just short.

Kaylee Heath led Defiance offensively on the day with a double in game two. She recorded a double RBI.

Devyn Hamilton (2.2) and Emma Rodgers (2.0) pitched for Defiance in game one. Hamilton took the loss and is now 0-2 on the season.

Defiance College will play on their home grass at Sal Hench Field for just the second time this season on Saturday. The Wolverines of Michigan-Dearborn will make the trip; first pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
