Lexington, Ky. - It was a tough afternoon for DC softball as they were swept by #16 Transylvania and were shutout in both games. Defiance falls to 13-15 overall and 4-2 in conference play. Transylvania improves to 19-8 and 4-0.
Game 1
Final: #16 Transylvania 6, Defiance 0
The nationally ranked Pioneers dominated game one to earn the shutout victory. Carlee Jeter (W, 12-3) pitched a complete game and struck out five Yellow Jackets.
Transylvania took an early 3-0 lead in the first inning. Annie Schuck started it with an RBI single and would be a force all game long as she finished with 4 RBIs and a home run. She was a double shy of the cycle.
The Pioneers tacked on two runs in the third and one in the fourth.
Marissa Roberts, Ali Mowen, and Laney Grimwood had one hit each for the Yellow Jackets.
Savannah McCoy (L, 5-7) started and pitched 1.2 innings, walked four and allowed five earned runs. Riley Alcorn came in and pitched the final 4.0 innings, scattered six hits and allowed one earned run.
Neither team committed an error in the game.

Final: #16 Transylvania 7, Defiance 0
Game two was dominated by Transylvania once again. This time, Sophie Moshos (W, 7-5) threw a complete game no hitter against the Yellow Jackets and struck out nine.
The Pioneers added one run each in the first three innings and scored twice in both the fourth and fifth innings.
Anika Craft, Ali Mowen, and Destiny Coil were the only Yellow Jackets to reach base in the game. Craft and Coil both reached on errors, while Mowen worked a walk.
Craft (L, 7-6) pitched 6.0 innings, allowed six earned runs, and struck out four.
The Yellow Jackets hit the road again Wednesday for another big HCAC match up against Manchester. Game one begins at 3:30 p.m.
