Softball splits road series at rival Bluffton
The Defiance softball team split their road doubleheader at rival Bluffton Wednesday evening falling in Game 1, 3-1, and winning Game 2 in dominating fashion, 20-5.

- Senior Taylor Biggs started on the mound in Game 1 for the Yellow Jackets and pitched all seven innings. She allowed three runs with six hits and struckout five batters.
- Sophomore Brooke Silcox led Defiance with one hit and one RBI.
- Senior Kalin Hubble, junior Marissa Roberts, senior Sophie Moller, and freshman Destiny Coil each chipped in one hit.

- Sophomore Riley Alcorn came in for relief and pitched the final 2.2 innings to earn the win. She allowed no runs with two hits and struckout three batters.

- Coil went 3-for-3 with four RBIs and was a triple away from hitting for the cycle.

- Madison Jones started in the circle for the Beavers and pitched the first 3.1 innings. She allowed seven runs with eight hits.

- The Yellow Jackets took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning off a Coil RBI double.
- Coil jacked a two-run homer in the third to make it 3-0 for Defiance.
- Bluffton used a 5-0 third inning to grab the lead 5-3.
- Defiance came back in the fourth inning scoring eight runs and taking a big lead, 10-4.
- The Yellow Jackets used a 10-0 fifth inning to seal the game 20-5.
