The Defiance softball team swept Albion in a road non-conference doubleheader on Sunday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets dominated Game 1 in five innings, 9-0, and won Game 2, 8-5.

The Defiance softball team swept Albion in a road non-conference doubleheader on Sunday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets dominated Game 1 in five innings, 9-0, and won Game 2, 8-5.

Game 1
Inside The Numbers
- Senior Taylor Biggs started in the circle for the Yellow Jackets and pitched all five innings for the win. She allowed no runs with three hits and notched six strikeouts.
- Freshman Destiny Coil and senior Hali Geraci both tallied two hits and two RBIs to lead Defiance at the plate. Coil blasted a homerun in the first inning.
- Junior Marissa Roberts and senior Sophie Moller added two hits and one RBI with Roberts including a homerun.
- Sophomore Brooke Silcox earned two hits during the contest.
- Senior Kalin Hubble and junior Josilyn Guzman each chipped in one hit and one RBI.
- Ashley Pion earned the start for Albion and pitched the first 1.2 innings allowing four runs off seven hits.

- Defiance started the scoring in the first inning taking an early 3-0 lead off RBI hits from Guzman and Coil.
- The Yellow Jackets gained a run in the second off a solo homer from Roberts making the score, 4-0.

- The Yellow Jackets finished the scoring with a run in the fourth and fifth inning to take Game 1, 9-0.

- Sophomore Savannah McCoy started on the mound for Defiance and pitched the first 5.1 innings. She allowed four runs off five hits and struckout three batters to help earn her first win of the season.
- Sophomore Riley Alcorn pitched the final 1.2 innings and notched two strikeouts to seal the win.
- Hubble led the Yellow Jackets at the plate with three hits and two RBIs.
- Coil and Geraci each added two hits and two RBIs with Coil smacking her second homerun in back-to-back games.
- Roberts recorded three hits during the game.
- Silcox chipped in two hits and one RBI for Defiance.
- Gabrielle Hirkaway pitched all seven innings for the Brits allowing eight runs off 14 hits and struckout two.

- Coil drilled a two-run homerun in the third to increase the Yellow Jacket lead to 5-1.
- Patillo homered in the fourth to bring in two runs for Albion and make it 5-3.
- Defiance got a two RBI double from Geraci to a 7-3 advantage in the fifth inning.
- Hubble brought in a run with an RBI single in the sixth inning to make the score, 8-3.
