Wehrman Named HCAC Pitcher of the Week

RICHMOND, IND. - Senior Rachel Wehrman (Fort Loramie/Minster) was named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week announced Monday afternoon by the league office.

Wehrman posted a 3-3 overall record making five starts with 37 innings of work. The senior registered a 2.08 ERA allowing just 15 runs on 33 hits, while striking out 14.

She tallied a complete game shutout in the Yellow Jackets 3-0 victory against Bates, surrendering just two hits. 

The Fort Loramie native currently leads the Conference in wins with four and ranks second in strikeouts with 18 and fifth in ERA at 1.91. 

Defiance returns to action on Tuesday, March 12 as they travel to Denison. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
