Emily Denhard Named NCAA Statistical Champion
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- Defiance College softball player and junior outfielder Emily Denhard (Troy, Mich./Kolbe Academy) has been named as the NCAA Division Statistical Champion in sacrifice hits per game for the 2016 season.
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- Defiance College softball player and junior outfielder Emily Denhard (Troy, Mich./Kolbe Academy) has been named as the NCAA Division Statistical Champion in sacrifice hits per game for the 2016 season.
Denhard becomes the first DC softball player to earn NCAA Statistical Champion honors. Denhard played in 37 games this past season and had 18 sacrifice hits for a national-leading .49 sacrifice hits per game average.
In addition to her 18 sacrifice hits in 2016, Denhard posted a .337 batting average with 32 hits in 95 at-bats. Her 32 base hits were third most on the team. She was also second in runs scored with 26 to go along with two runs batted in.
On the base paths, Denhard finished amongst the team leaders in stolen bases with three in four attempts. Defensively, she posted a .957 fielding percentage with 64 putouts and two assists as an outfielder.
