DC Gets Shut Out by Anderson (Ind.)
ANDERSON, IND. – The Defiance College softball team traveled to Anderson, Ind. to face Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference opponent Anderson (Ind.) University and fell to the Ravens, 7-0 in game one and 4-0 in game two.

ANDERSON, IND. – The Defiance College softball team traveled to Anderson, Ind. to face Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference opponent Anderson (Ind.) University and fell to the Ravens, 7-0 in game one and 4-0 in game two.
Anderson (15-10, 6-2 HCAC) took an early 1-0 lead over Defiance (12-16, 3-5 HCAC) in the bottom of the first inning. In the top of the second, Defiance had junior Megan Warren (Mason) on third, but despite efforts, was left stranded at the end of the inning.
The Yellow Jackets held the Ravens to a 1-0 ballgame until the bottom of the fourth inning when Anderson capitalized on a scoring opportunity and was able to tack on two runs to boost their lead to 3-0.
The bottom of the sixth proved to be the game-changer as the Ravens added four more to the scoreboard to make the score 7-0. Anderson held DC in the top of the seventh to secure the 7-0 victory in favor of the home team.
The Purple and Gold recorded four hits coming from four different Yellow Jackets. At pitcher, sophomore Sarah Kaya (Lorain/Clearview) pitched the complete game and recorded the loss after giving up seven runs off of 11 hits, while striking out four batters.
In the nightcap, Anderson struck first in the bottom of the second inning after plating two runs to take the 2-0 advantage. The ravens added two more in their next at-bat to take a 4-0 lead going into the fourth inning. Despite leaving three runners on base the last two innings, Defiance could not stir up anything offensively as the Ravens held Defiance to zero runs to steal the second game 4-0.
DC had four hits coming from three Yellow Jackets. Sophomore Kaity Kuhn went a perfect two-of-two at the plate that included one walk. In the circle, freshman Jamie Kimbler (Huber Heights/Wayne) pitched the complete game and recorded the loss after allowing four runs off of nine hits.
The Yellow Jackets will return to action when they travel to North Manchester, Ind. on Wednesday, Apr. 20 to face HCAC foe Manchester (Ind.) University. The first game of the doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
